IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR WHEN WE’Dusually be shrugging off winter layers, switching to lighter tackle and starting to enjoy some warmth on the river. Although, as a confessed ‘soft southerner’, I’ve been known to wear thermals even in August.
A recent study by scientists might mean that in the future I won’t be the only one.
We hear a lot about climate change and its impact on the sport and species that we love but tend to focus on rising air and water temperatures. Some studies now indicate that as a result of climate change we could see air and water temperatures drop across Northern Europe as the ocean currents bringing warm water from the tropics to the North Atlantic weaken, or even collapse.
