For landscape designers, the yard is equally as important as the home. Such was the case for Teryl Ciarlo, designer and owner of Teryl Designs Landscaping. When she first spotted a 1930s home in Los Angeles, California, she was drawn to its “old tradition charm and the big, beautiful yard.” As she surveyed the grounds, she envisioned a profusion of boxwood globes, climbing roses, fruit trees and a vegetable garden, all executed with organic gardening techniques.
