Firing up a Solo Stove. Because it is lightweight, it is easy to carry and perfect for boiling water and heating up a meal.
How much food is enough when you’re bugging out? First of all, this question is about as vague as the term, “bug out,” itself. Simply put, bugging out means getting out of a place of danger and heading to a place of safety.
With that in mind, there are a lot of factors to consider well before the time comes to beat feet. Here are the steps you should consider:
• Do you have a plan?
The time to create your “bug-out” plan is when times are good— not when the flood waters start seeping over your threshold. You have a plan for your family in case of a fire, so you should have a plan in place in case you have to bug out. Keep in mind that speed is important if you have to bug out.
Once the decision has been made, there is no time to second guess. Stick with your plan.
• Where are you going?
Depending on the emergency, you might need to only travel a short distance to get to a safe place and only be gone for a short period of time. That place might have plenty of supplies on hand to see you through until you get the “all clear.” In other cases, you might have to travel a long distance, where the availability of supplies might be questionable.
