In ATG No 2292, I noted as a record the £13,000 sale of a copy of Thomas Wright’s Original theory… of the universe… (1750), as part of the Christie’s April 26 sale of the Beltrame library.
I have since been reminded that Forum sold a copy in September of last year at £15,000 (as reported in ATG No 2264), and learned that in April 2015, as part of a European Noble & Private Collections sale at Christie’s South Kensington, a small book section included a copy from the Duke of Atholl’s library at Blair Castle. That one reached £17,000.
Happy to put the record Wright.
