Erté (1892-1990) was an artist and designer whose works influenced fashion, film and theatre throughout the 20th century.
Born Romain de Tirtoff in Russia, he later moved to Paris where he designed covers for Harper’s Bazaar, costumes and sets for the theatre and was a figurehead for Art Deco generally.
