Dealers returned to London last week for the LAPADA Conference 2021 which had the theme of ‘Reset & Refresh’, writes Frances Allitt.
For many attendees, it was a first trip into the capital since before the pandemic struck in March 2020. Delegates gathered in a single room, mostly unmasked, chatting about the fairs (Basel, Battersea, Frieze etc) which have finally reopened physically. The scene was testament to loosening restrictions and a market returning to normal.
Among the take-away pieces of information discussed at the event were the issues of coping with fewer visitors at fairs and how dealers can use it to their advantage; how to tackle the growing red-tape and regulation from Brexit to Anti-Money Laundering rules; and how to continue to maximise the benefits of the internet.
