Applied Arts  |  May/June 2016 - Photography and Illustration Annual
The May/June 2016 issue of Applied Arts is the year’s first awards annual, celebrating the Photography & Illustration Awards. The revamped awards section, newly reorganized with special focus on aesthetics, emphasizes the high calibre of the year’s award winners. The rest of the issue is a celebration of all things image, from recent photography and illustration work highlighted in Notes, to the stunning portfolio of Quebecois photographer Shayne Laverdière. The Conversation piece in this issue connects two image making students from Seneca College with Air Canada enRoute’s editorial director Ilana Weitzman, who offers useful advise on commissioning work, and the Evolution section highlights war stories from the shift to digital image making in the early 2000s.
