DESPITE heavy rain in the lead up to the James Mundell Memorial Open, Tarbert golf course stood up to the test with the greenkeeping staff and members doing a great job in preparing the course.
The poor overhead conditions and slick greens made scoring difficult for golfers on Sunday August 6, with the players in the middle ballot getting the worst of the conditions. Lochgilphead father and son Alex and Kenneth McAulay set the early pace with net 66 and 67 respectively, with Alex’s score remaining in the lead until the final group finished.
Iain Johnstone Senior finished a shot back with net 68 for fourth place.
