FORMER Argyll and Bute MP Alan Reid put his hat in the ring for the upcoming UK general election this week, just four days after he was elected to Argyll and Bute Council.
The Scottish Liberal Democrats announced that Mr Reid - who lost his seat at Westminster to SNP’s Brendan O’Hara in 2015 - will be their candidate for Argyll and Bute in the UK Parliament election on June 8. Mr Reid also stood in the Argyll and Bute constituency in the Holyrood election last year, losing out to the SNP’s Michael Russell.
