FOR MANY veterans, Lochgilphead Armed Forces Day is a chance to meet up with old colleagues and friends they haven’t seen for years or even decades.
Len Hamilton served in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders as a Permanent Staff Instructor (PSI). He thinks he must have trained ‘hundreds’ of soldiers around Mid Argyll and said: ‘I did here, (Lochgilphead), Tarbert and Inveraray.’
One of the soldiers was Geordie Rhoddick who was delighted to see his old PSI and said of Len: ‘He was brilliant. He really cared about his soldiers.’
