Sir,
Bobby Whitacre’s rather intemperate epistle entitled ‘political atmosphere’ in last week’s letters page does very little to cool the said atmosphere. Unfortunately, it contains very damaging lies regarding both Scottish and Arran tourism. Bobby asserts: ‘Scottish tourism including visitor numbers to Arran suffered massively in the wake of the 2014 referendum.’
Arran tourism, as everybody and their granny knows, has enjoyed a healthy increase in the last few years. Again, as everybody knows, this increase has been helped by the introduction of RET (road equivalent tariff) fares on our ferry, introduced by the SNP-controlled Scottish government.
