Arran artist Josephine Broekhuizen’s solo exhibition opens in Glasgow today (Saturday) and already indicators seem optimistic with the sale of major works and an increase in interest.
It is being held at Glasgow’s prestigious Compass Gallery in West Regent Street, which has become a main Glasgow fixture since it was set up by Cyril Gerber in 1969, and is widely regarded as one of the top galleries for contemporary art in Scotland.
Every year the gallery, now under the directorship of Cyril’s daughter, Jill Gerber, attends the London Art Fair and for the past three years have taken Josephine’s paintings to show there. And in each of the past three years they have sold them.
