A Yorkshire terrier breeder from Lamlash has taken extraordinary steps to have one of her rescued dogs registered to qualify as a contender at Crufts, the world’s largest dog show.
Margaret Kay, whose dog Niamh took third place at Crufts earlier this year, has competed at the prestigious competition for more than eight years and has more recently taken Scarlett along as a spectator, after adopting her two years ago. Unable to take part herself due to her unregistered pedigree, Scarlett has often received comments from other breeders that she herself should be in the ring.
