Learning that one in every four of us are not getting the health care promised to us by the Scottish Government will not come as a surprise to many islanders who have found themselves waiting – and waiting – for appointments.
While hospital staff work their socks off to meet our needs, it appears there are not enough senior consultants to see us, depending on the care required.
The consultants who are working in our hospitals are dedicated to their patients, coming out in the middle of the night to take away pain or fears, doctors who go to the ‘nth degree to fi nd a solution.
