Loch Fyne Oysters celebrates 40 years with its Fyne at 40 weekend

In 1978 local landowner Johnny Noble and marine biologist Andy Lane began farming oysters in the clear waters of Loch Fyne and selling them from a shed beside the A83. On the evening of Friday 11 May this year a ceilidh will take place followed by a spectacular fireworks show over the Loch. This will be followed by a special ‘Fyne at Forty’ weekend festival to mark the company’s 40th anniversary.

Over the two-day ‘Fyne at Forty’ event, festival goers will be given access to areas normally closed to the public, such as the oyster sheds where every oyster is graded, purified and hand-checked for freshness before being despatched to customers around the world.
