Dougal Eagle is an unlikely hero in new children’s book

A children’s author has used Arran as an inspiration for her new book.

Teacher and adviser Sue Ellis has just published Gorgeous Gwendolen Goose and Other Stories, a collection of six stories featuring birds as the lead characters, all of whom have to overcome adversity including bullying.

Sue, from York, has been spending every May halfterm for five years enjoying what Arran has to offer. She bases herself in Machrie with her family and friends and enjoys golf, particularly at Shiskine Golf Club, walking, local restaurants and tasting Arran beer and whisky.
