The September weekend ended with a headache for scores of visitors trying to get off the island on Monday because of the thick fog.
The unusual fog, which had been persistent for much of the day, finally halted the 4.40pm and 6pm sailings from both Brodick and Ardrossan with visibility making any attempt to make the crossings impossible.
However, that led to a big build-up of traffic waiting to leave the island along the shorefront in Brodick, but with the fog clearing slightly the delayed 7.20pm was able to make the crossing, though leaving a number of visitors requiring overnight accommodation at short notice.
