A Lamlash woman has begun an epic cycling trip of 550 miles around the Western Isles in order to raise funds for the Arran Mountain Rescue Team (AMRT).
Carol Vella-Boyle set off on her fundraising cycle yesterday (Friday) with a minimum of fanfare which is just how she prefers it.
The journey, which will take in some of the most stunning and rugged island scenery in the west of Scotland, will involve numerous ferry crossings and some camping along with husband Tom, who will also be acting as her support team. Carol said: ‘I belong to the Arran Bike Belles and their constant encouragement has helped me tackle the Arran hills and inspired me to venture further afield. The bicycle is an excellent way to appreciate the landscape and wildlife and other people’s gardens.’
