THE WINNER of the 2016 Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon will be stripped of his title by the IAAF due to him being an ineligible athlete.
The race, which took place on October 2, was won by Russian Aleksey Troshkin in 2:18:28 and was the third consecutive victory for the 30-year-old, who has a 2:16:40 personal best listed on the IAAF’s website from La Rochelle in November 2013.
“It is clear that this is an international event and he was not allowed to participate. He is ineligible and is on the banned list,” the IAAF said, confirming that Troshkin’s result will be annulled.
