WHETHER he wins in Rio or not, most will acknowledge that London 2012 winner and world record-holder Renaud Lavillenie is currently the world’s best pole vaulter, but he is far from unbeatable as he was to prove yet again in Amsterdam.
Still to win a world title after four attempts, even though he has won four medals in those championships, his record at the Europeans had been up to this point perfect as he went for his fourth successive gold medal.
