BOSWORTH REAPS REWARD
SIXTH PLACE AND UK RECORD FOR BRIT BEHIND CHINESE ONE-TWO
20KM WALK
TOM BOSWORTH was a 100/1 shot to win the 20km race walk before Rio. But after a bold, British record-breaking performance to finish sixth, what odds will he be for Tokyo?
In four years’ time, he will follow in the footsteps of Ken Matthews, the British race walker who won Olympic gold in the Japanese capital in 1964.
He still has some way to go to match the Chinese duo who dominated in Rio – Zhen Wang and Cai Zelin – but his rise has been relentless.

The 26-year-old has made it his mission to popularise race walking again in the UK. So far he is succeeding with his media-friendly attitude and last Friday in Brazil he made the most of the Olympic stage.
