IT IS always a shame when a venue change wipes out a lot of history. Last weekend, the South moved venues for their relays for the first time in nearly 30 years. All the course and lap records now mean nothing compared to those set at Bedford this year. Such was the negative response to Bedford because of its position and facilities, the chances are those inaugural records set this year will stand forever and hopefully Rushmoor will be revisited.

KENYANS took nine of the top ten men’s places and seven of the top ten women’s spots but were unable to challenge the decades-old records of Rod Dixon (46:50) and Grete Waitz (53:05).

The races were won by Paul Sugut and Joan Aiyabei.
