Masculinity is a construct, and I don’t believe that it’s got any solidity. I think we can only be human beings: we’ve got brains, we’ve got hearts, we eat food, we go to the toilet, we’re all going to die; we’ve got a lot in common. Aspects of femininity, masculinity and all the rest of it is subjective, and it’s not important. I never think to myself, “Oh, I’m accommodating my masculinity,” because I have such a negative association with it. I see masculinity as very arrogant and unfeeling and it leads to what I call the military industrial complex, a mindset
