Darren Styles, OBE, is a journalist and publisher — producing customer magazines for clients as diverse as airlines, car makers, cruise lines and retailers. But only when acquiring Attitude in 2016, and becoming (surprisingly) the magazine’s first gay owner in its 25-year history, did he find his calling. He is an ambassador for Downing Street’s GREAT Campaign, promoting the UK overseas, has raised £350,000 for the Elton John Aids Foundation and is a Friend of the Terrence Higgins Trust. He was appointed OBE in the recent Queen’s Birthday honours for services to the economy, diversity and charity, and has just launched the Attitude Foundation. He shares some “hand-me-down” wisdom
