A darling of Berlin’s queer scene, self-professed gender terrorist MIKEY escaped rural Australia and recently released debut EP, Paths, which explores spirituality, sexuality and living for the moment

You’re based in Berlin, after stints in London and New York. How has each of those cities fed your artistic and creative energy, and what does Berlin offer that’s different?

In NYC and London, I was still writing from a place of insecurity and about my own experience of love, loss, heartbreak and loneliness. Even though that is still some of my best work, Berlin has inspired me on a whole new level and refined my fearlessness. I’m now writing music that’s bigger than just myself, where I’m hoping to break down basic human emotions and binary constructs and expand people’s minds.
