Family Guys

I got married twelve years ago, to a woman, and we had our kids quite quickly. She always knew I was bisexual – we actually met at a gay bar. She had problems with alcohol addiction which were too difficult for my children to be around. I made the decision to end the relationship. We divorced seven years ago, and I’ve been single ever since. I have full-time custody of the children, and they have fairly limited access to their mother, but I always try to maintain their relationship with her. It’s only recently that she’s been going to a treatment centre to get help. I know how important my mother was to me, and how important they are in children’s lives. I love being a parent – to protect them, and love them, and do all I can for them, it keeps me going every day.

About Attitude

The new issue of Attitude features Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy on the cover, with an exclusive interview in which he discusses life since coming out. Inside we have a Valentine’s special where we look at the broad spectrum of gay relationships, plus columns and advice on dating as transgender, HIV positive, masc, femme, and everything in between. There are also interviews with British actor Douglas Booth and Australian singer songwriter Josef Salvat. Our writer Matt Cain goes home to Bolton for the city’s first Pride, and we chat to our new columnist Juno Dawson about her transition. We also have a feature on the forgotten gay language, polari.
