On September 20, Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez slugged a two-run home run in the fifth inning off Triston McKenzie at Cleveland - his 46th of the season at that point - breaking Johnny Bench’s record for home runs hit by a catcher in a single season. Bench hit 45 HR in 1970.
