In the annals of oddball hockey collectibles, the Frito-Lay Breakaway series has to be one of the all-time oddest. The series is part hockey card, part game and part enduring mystery. In fact, for a set that’s less than 50 years old, it’s surprising how many questions swirl around it. There’s an uncertain checklist, mysterious distribution, possible short prints and highly curious content.
