Black+White Photography  |  March 2010
I ’m told that moving house is a stressful business but, so far, I’m finding it rather fun. Lots of clearing out and trips to the dump have had a deeply cleansing effect – and, as I’m sure I’ve said before, I like change. Which gave me the idea of challenging a few rather well known photographers to stop doing what they are good at, and try something completely different. To my surprise, all except one jumped at the chance (I’m still working on the one) which made me think that maybe they had been (consciously or unconsciously) waiting to be given this little shove to set them off in a new direction. Maybe we like change more than we admit. Maybe a challenge makes us stretch ourselves more than we are used to. Of course, this could all backfire. The photographers might all turn out rubbish pictures that I can’t publish and I might turn into a nervous wreck while moving house (two weeks to go). But at least it will be interesting.
