Situated within south London’s Brockwell Park, this striking 1950s dwelling has undergone a dramatic transformation. Keen to create a bright and spacious family home, the owners appointed Zac Monro Architects to develop a contemporary design for their renovation and extension scheme. The house was pared back to its original structural skeleton and re-dressed in materials that sit more sympathetically within the green setting. The larger size of the revamped property has been cleverly disguised by breaking the structure down into three cube-like forms, each of which is covered in a different material. The new timber cladding blends well with the leafy surroundings, while blue-grey bricks complement the nearby urban properties. Large swathes of floor-to-ceiling glazing have also been incorporated to enhance the eye-catching modern look.
