Stunning views meet energy efficiency

This new build in the countryside, south west of Cubert and three miles from Newquay, is the work of Laurence Associates. The house features large expanses of glass, adding wow factor to the dwelling and enabling beautiful views across Penhale Dunes – as well as allowing for sunbathed interiors throughout the day.

The homeowners knocked down the two-storey detached property that originally occupied the long, thin plot and replaced it with a modern, energy-efficient home. The brief called for the new structure to retain the original house’s L-shaped footprint.

To accomodate the slope, the architects created a large step in the rear elevation and reduced height on the western gable to mitigate the visual impact on neighbouring properties. The design and use of natural materials are sympathetic to the surroundings.
