Why cut wildflower verges?

Once again Argyll and Bute Council has sent someone, at whose door I lay no blame whatsoever, to cut the grass verges along the Learside Road.

In the middle of July, which is when many of our most precious and somewhat endangered plants and flowers are in full bloom.

Red campion, ragged robin and orchids, to name but a few, have all been cut off in their prime.
