Bank closures cause protests POLITICIANS have attacked the closure of five West Coast banks as ‘horrendous’ and a ‘severe blow’ to local rural life.
Spokesmen for the banks say their decisions were based on sound economic principles and that customers can get equally good services nearby.
In the past three months the Bank of Scotland has closed branches at George Street, Oban, at Ardrishaig and withdrawn a mobile service on the Ardnamurchan peninsula.
