An octet of the world’s best pipers will have tuned up for tomorrow’s 18th Springbank Invitational.

At the Kintyre Piping Society (KPS) event, from 10am, in the Seafield hotel, they will be trying to impress the competition’s three judges and a Fear-an- Tighe said to be second to none.

The pipers will again be competing for the the McFadyens Transport Limited trophy for 6/8 Mach by local composers.

In his introductory notes KPS president John Lang Brown said: ‘We are delighted with the continuing involvement of Springbank distillery, as our main sponsor and are highly indebted to them and their managing director Hedley Wright.
