MSP sees opportunity in creamery sale

ARGYLL and Bute MSP Michael Russell has said there may be an ‘opportunity for local, collective ownership’ in response to the news that First Milk intends to sell its Campbeltown creamery.

Mr Russell, who said that the plans had caused ‘considerable concern’ in Kintyre, commented: ‘At the depth of the milk price crisis two years ago, local milk producers investigated the possibility of a community co-operative buy-out but were not given any encouragement by the then First Milk management.
