Dogs take the blame for owners

LAMBING is in full flow across Kintyre and, although there have not been any instances of dogs worrying sheep, there have been disturbing attacks elsewhere.

As the secretary of Kintyre Agricultural Society, John Armour, points out on the farming page, it is the owners who need to be educated.

Dogs may naturally chase sheep just as they will run after a ball or rabbit – it is their instinct. It is up to the owners to ensure they are fully in control of their animals at all times.

This means the dog, no matter how well behaved, should be on a lead in the countryside wherever farm animals are present.
