TRIUMPH TREASURE
If you’re into Triumphs, you’ll know about Les Williams. The race shop foreman and race team manager at Norton Villiers Triumph (NVT) until the factory closed, he is a man steeped in Triumph lore. Having been the driving force behind the successes of the racing triples for many years, he went into business specialising in parts for them after NVT’s collapse. He also produced thirty two road going replicas of Triumph’s most famous production racer, the five-time TT-winning Trident, Slippery Sam. Les also built a batch of sixty one Triumph Legends, upgraded T160 triples, using donor machines. And, a few years later, he produced the Buccaneer, based on Meriden’s twin cylinder range.
