Classic Car Buyer  |  CCB 10 July 2013
It’s a pleasure to be writing my first ‘Welcome’ for Classic Car Buyer – it certainly doesn’t seem like it has been nearly a year since I was writing my first 100 words for this title introducing myself to you all! Although I’ve been a regular visitor to classic car shows for many years, my time on the CCB staff has given me the opportunity to go to amuch wider variety of events than I otherwise would, and it is the variety that the classic car movement can provide that never ceases to amaze and impress me. Even at a one-model event you’ll find seemingly infinite variations on the same theme – proof of all the little personalisations and modifications that so many cars pick up over a few decades. Then you have the larger themed shows such as Pride of Longbridge where Austin 10s and Rover P5s can rub
shoulders with Morris Itals and MG ‘Z’ cars. Even this pales in comparison to the ‘free for all’ events, such as the Heritage Rally I attended a couple of weekends ago. Not only was there a very varied range of cars (from Rolls-Royces to CCB’s own Triumph
Toledo 1300) but the amount of interest from other rally-goers and visitors was equally broad, with everyone taking an interest in everyone else’s vehicles and the passing visitors seeming to appreciate the rarity of a Porsche 356 and a Mallard Green Toledo, even if they are unusual in rather different ways.
