Director John Carpenter’s recent resurrection to the world of soundtracks, alongside son Cody and godson Daniel Davies, has now led him to this remake of Stephen King’s Firestarter. Its tension is often subtle: I’ll Find You leaves plenty of time to hide, Police Arrive isn’t exactly the sound of the cavalry and Are You Scared Of Me? is even comforting. But Rainbird Fights Vicky features painful slams of synth and Charlie’s Rampage returns effectively to the unsettling territory of Halloween. WW
