You will no doubt have heard the famous saying “you can please some of the people all of the time etc etc” and for years, I thought it came from the lips of Winston Churchill and said so in public. It didn’t take long for a knowledgeable reader to point out that it was a quote from Abraham Lincoln, thus making me look like the uninformed berk I no doubt am. But we all have our little faults, and I have now got over my embarrassment. Anyway, the essence of that quote is that you can’t please everybody (I really don’t know why Lincoln didn’t just say that in the first place). Therefore, this issue
will find favour with some and bring criticism from others. You will have noticed (or will, very shortly) that a good part of the contents are devoted to Morris Minors because this year is the 60th anniversary of the Minor LCV. We couldn’t let the occasion pass without giving it significant recognition so, if you’re one of the many Minor fans, whacko for you. If not, I’m really sorry, dudes, but you’ve paid your money, so you might as well read the mag, now. It’s actually pretty interesting (although I would say that, being the editor, and all that stuff). To remind you, next month will be a sixties special, so you’ve still got time to send in photos, memories and what-have-you from that decade. It is a decade that I find especially fascinating because it was a time of both change and
choice – and that takes in fashion and music as well as vehicles. Certainly, many of my favourite trucks come from that era. And finally, as is often promised, I will get round to putting a different pic at the top of this page to reflect the fact that I am now no longer the handsome young buck as depicted in the photograph and, in fact, haven’t been since somewhere around the sixties. Chin-chin, old beans, Ted (don’t quote me) Connolly, Editor
