Anthony Legge puts his passion for pies and provenance to spectacular use at his Herefordshire deli, Legges of Bromyard. Daisy Meager meets the man behind the counter

He would never admit he’s doing anything special, but a browse around Anthony Legge’s North Herefordshire deli/butcher/pie shop suggests otherwise. Coming from a farming lineage and a butcher by trade, burly Anthony opened the doors of Legges of Bromyard in 2000 as an alternative to the big supermarkets. “Here you’ve got the farms, you’ve got us and there’s nothing in between,” he says proudly. “We can be honest with what we’re selling.”
