You never know if a British July will roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer immortalised by Nat King Cole. When they do come, I’m sure I’m not alone in finding it makes me much lazier and hazier than crazier. Time in the kitchen, usually a pleasure, comes to seem a chore, especially if it involves creating even more heat. I find myself wondering, if soda and pretzels and beer work for Nat King Cole, surely cool drinks and convenience foods are good enough for the rest of us?
