The cost of providing hungry populations with basic foods such as cereal, meat and dairy is unlikely to be affected by a fall in the price of five food commodity groups for a fifth consecutive year, according to a senior economist responsible for monitoring the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations’ (FAO) Food Price Index.
