Now that the temperatures are gradually nudging upwards and the sun is out for longer, the DieselCar team have been out testing more cars than usual for the Road Test special issue of your favourite magazine. We’ve tested the bold new Citroën C4 Picasso, Audi’s classy looking A3 saloon and the hot new Volkswagen Golf GTD, as well as driving the upmarket new hybrid, the Lexus IS 300h. We’ve also been crash road testing Peugeot’s new 2008 on UK roads for the first time. There’s news on the stunning new Skoda Octavia vRS, Citroën’s seven-seat Grand C4 Picasso, as well as the first pictures of the latest BMW X5 and new 4 Series Coupé. Vauxhall’s facelifted Insignia, with engines capable of emitting CO2 of just 99g/km are revealed, and we take a first look at the Fiat 500L MPW.
Audi’s new five-door A3 Sportback meets the Mercedes-Benz A-Class in a premium compact car grudge match, and SEAT’s new Leon faces the Skoda Octavia in this month’s twin tests. We’ve also been driving a brace of hybrids, the Lexus LS 600h L, the Audi A8L Hybrid and Peugeot’s latest edition of the 3008 HYbrid4, now boasting CO2 emissions of just 88g/km. We’ve also driven Citroën’s facelifted C3, the updated MINI Countryman and the four-wheel-drive version of the Vauxhall Mokka, as well as the Volvo V40 R-Design and the recently launched BMW X3 with drive to the rear wheels only.
Our experts have been looking at safety, with new car buying advice for driver’s that have newly passed their test, and also examined whether hydrogen really is the fuel of the future. We’ve also been scouting for a cost conscious camper van, and there’s a comprehensive used car buyer’s guide for the Land Rover Discovery 3 2.7 TDV6. All of this is in addition to the regular features like Doctor Diesel, Gadget Inspector, The Extra Mile and lots of used car buying advice.

diesel, green cars, electric mag

The UK’s leading magazine for diesel, green cars, electric, hybrids and alternative fuelled vehicles, full of advice on tech, mechanics, future plans. great photos inspiring reviews Reviewed 21 August 2022

I like the way it has evolved over the years

I have been buying it in print and online since the early 2000s and I like that it always has focused on the economy end of motoring, or us cheapskates if you like. It has moved to covering hybrids and electric cars which is good, and hasn't forgotten its roots - diesels.

It's a friendly, down to early mag and Doctor Diesel is still the best bit.
