THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND PAVES THE WAY FOR GENDER EQUALITY IN SCHOOLS

The Church of England has issued new guidance to its schools which states that “boys should be free to choose to wear tutus, a tiara or heels” and girls “to wear tool belts and superhero capes”. The guidance also advises teachers to avoid using labels that might alienate children’s behaviour “just because it does not conform to gender stereotypes”. The guidance, titled Valuing All God’s Children, was timed to coincide with anti-bullying week (13-17 November) and includes information on transphobic, homophobic and biphobic bullying.
