They still look shy compared to their male counterparts, and maybe their voices still quiver. But there they are, ready to fight for their rights. Lesbians and bi women are optimistic, things are changing in Myanmar, also known as Burma.

Two women hold hands, walking and chatting peacefully, on a busy street in Yangon, Myanmar’s commercial capital. A scene striking in its simplicity, its obviousness. That is what director Su Su Hlaing’s documentary, Love And Other Matters, was all about: love, acceptance, the right to lead a quiet life.
