We’re (almost) recovered from this year’s BFI Flare, which took over London’s Southbank for 11 days in March. In between all the babes, beats and booze, we managed to find some time to catch one or two films, and we’re pleased to report it was a good year for sapphic cinema with films including doc-in-progress Rebel Dykes, coming-of-age story Barash and Catherine Corsini’s emotional drama Summertime playing to sold out houses. In fact, it was a sell out across the board, with festival organisers reporting a nine per cent audience boost from last year, showing that 30 years on, London’s LGBT film festival is as vital and as a vibrant as ever. Long live Flare!
