HOMOTOPIA
This year has been an important one for the LGBT community, as 2017 marks 50 years since the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in England and Wales. But many of the events we’ve seen over the summer have largely ignored the experience of women in 1967. That’s why the organisers of Homotopia, an arts and culture festival now in its 14th year, are determined to put lesbians and bisexual women front and centre of the festivities.
Taking place in Liverpool from 26 October to 1 December, 50 events will mark the 50th anniversary, providing a month-long platform for all kinds of stories around the theme of Liberation – some forgotten, some erased; others championed and embraced.
