PERSON OF THE MONTH HANNAH WINTERBOURNE

PHOTO SOLDIER MAGAZINE/CROWN COPYRIGHT

This month we’d like to give a salute to British Army officer and patron of the charity Mermaids, Hannah Winterbourne for speaking out against the Trump administration’s decision to ban transgender people from serving in the US military. In a post on Instagram, Winterbourne shared her experience of serving as a trans woman and the support she’s received from her colleagues. “People understand that it comes down to the ability to do my job and nothing else. Not everyone experiences this, no matter how much I wish they did. But know this, for those that support me and others like me – you will be on the right side of history. For those that don’t… don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
