THOUSANDS OF activists took to the streets of Durban during the 21st International AIDS Conference to highlight what they describe as a disconnect between political promises and what’s happening on the ground.
Of the 37 million people around the world who are HIV-positive, 20 million have no access to treatments. A high level UN commitment to “end AIDS by 2030” has been reached yet, with the exception of Canada, all Western countries have decreased AIDS funding from foreign aid budgets.
